Hi and Welcome to my website. My name is David Dawson, I am currently Technical Director and Partner at Promo-Gifts (UK) Ltd.
I've built this site mainly as a blog. but also as a point of reference so I can point people to tutorials and best practice guidelines. the subject will really be a bit all over the place... promotional industry, websites, design, joomla... um... yeah and other things like that.
Work History Background: Digital Print - Signage - Screen Printing - Graphic Design - Web Marketing
I've been in the print industry since 1998, originally I started in digital print, cmc machines, laminating, print mounting and various other finishing work. I got myself to College in 2002 and learnt how to use Photoshop and Illustrator. After that I worked for 3 years as Studio Manager for a Printer in the Promotional Trade.
Following that I started up my own business with a work colleague. After 3 years I ended up in London working in partnership with a Promotional Merchandise Distributor.
I taught myself how to create websites using joomla as a platform and have used that system ever since to create websites. I spend the majority of my time working on promo gifts home page. Doing both SEO and adding new products from new suppliers, (or updating old products).
I also build/update and consult on Joomla! websites for various charities, businesses and organisations across the UK.
